Yanjin County, under the jurisdiction of Zhaotong City in Yunnan Province, is located at the border of northeastern Yunnan and Sichuan, situated in the central part of Zhaotong and Yibin. It features a monsoon climate with a mix of mid-subtropical and temperate zones, characterized by a north-south elongated and slightly narrower east-west terrain. The county spans between 103°59′18″ to 104°27′50″ east longitude and 27°49′11″ to 28°24′38″ north latitude, covering a total area of 2,021.14 square kilometers. As of the end of 2023, Yanjin County had a permanent population of 302,600.
盐津县，隶属云南省昭通市，地处滇东北云川交界处，居昭通、宜宾两市之中部，属中亚热带与温带共存的季风立体气候，县境南北狭长，东西略窄。位于东经103°59′18″~104°27′50″、北纬27°49′11″~28°24′38″之间。总面积2021.14平方千米。截至2023年末，盐津县有常住人口30.26万人。
There is a river here called Guan River. For thousands of years, Guan River has accumulated the power to move mountains and split the towering rocks, forming a canyon landscape with numerous peaks. The county buildings are built along the mountain peaks and extend along the Guan River. The narrowest part of the entire county town is less than 30 meters, and even the widest part is only 300 meters, also known as the “narrowest county town in China”. From an aerial view, Yanjin County, with its “two mountains sandwiching a river,” resembles a winding curve, with half embedded in the mountains and half suspended into the river, creating a unique terrain that truly makes it a “a linear city.
这里有一条河，名叫关河，千百年来，关河蓄积移山之力将壁立千仞的石岩劈开，形成奇峰林立的峡谷景观，县城建筑依山峰而建、临关河延伸。整座县城最窄的地方不足30米，即使最宽的地方也不过300米，又被称为“中国最窄的县城”。从空中俯瞰，“两山夹一河”的盐津县城像一条蜿蜒的曲线，一半嵌入山，一半悬入河的独特地形，成就了名副其实的“一线城市”。
The ancient Bai people inhabited the area. The Bai were a collective term used by the Central Plains Huaxia tribes during the pre-Qin period to refer to the various ethnic groups in southwestern China, also known as the “Pu people.” They were primarily distributed in the present-day Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau and the southern regions of Sichuan and Chongqing. According to historical records, the Bai leader was granted the title of “Bai Marquis” for his contributions to aiding King Wu of Zhou in overthrowing King Zhou. Centered in Yibin (now known as such), he established the powerful “Bai Marquis State” in the southern Sichuan and northeastern Yunnan regions. After the Qin and Han dynasties, the influence of the Central Plains gradually extended to the southwest, leading to the decline of the Bai people. However, they continued to coexist with other ethnic groups in the southern Sichuan region centered around Yibin (now known as such) and the northeastern Yunnan region centered around Zhaotong (now known as such).
古为僰人居住地。僰人是先秦时期中原华夏诸族对西南诸民族的统称，又称“濮人”，主要分布于今云贵高原及川渝南部地区. 据史料记载，僰人首领因跟随周武王伐纣有功，被封为“僰侯”，并以宜宾(今名)为中心，在今川南和滇东北地区建立了势力强大的“僰侯国”。秦汉以后，中原势力渐及西南，僰人势力日衰，但仍在以宜宾(今名)为中心的川南地区和以昭通(今名)为中心的滇东北地区与其他民族杂居。
Yanjin County is renowned for its unique specialties, vibrant lifestyle, and solid educational infrastructure. Its most famous product is the Wugu (black-bone) chicken, a highly nutritious, free-range poultry celebrated as the “Black Phoenix.” The county is also known as the “Hometown of Chinese Fangzhu Bamboo,” producing tender, organic bamboo shoots.
